FRESNEL RHOMB RETARDERS

Standard quarter and half wave Fresnel rhomb retarders are optimized for 272 nm ( Fused Quartz ), 380 nm ( FK5 ), 580 nm ( BK7 ) and 1080 nm ( BK7 ). The design of these is based on the principle that total internal reflection produces a phase delay between -p ( parallel to plane of incidence ) and -s ( perpendicular to plane of incidence ) vibration components. A quarter wave rhomb is a single parallelepiped and causes a beam displacement ( offset error ) which is approximately 1.3 times the aperture. Half wave rhombs are made of two quarter wave rhombs and are supplied cemented, optically contacted or air-spaced. Air-spaced rhombs are always mounted while others can be supplied unmounted as well.
